The gloomy mood from early 2025, likely tied to the global economic slowdown, tighter small business budgets, and uncertainty around marketing spend, seems to have vanished.
By Q3 the picture looked very different, with almost all builders bouncing back strongly. While the largest players showed only modest percentage growth, the younger challengers delivered remarkable gains: Webflow (+20%), Squarespace (+62%), Canva (+70%) and Framer (+75%).
Seasonal demand around autumn launches and holiday preparation likely fueled many new projects, while renewed business confidence unlocked budgets that had been frozen in Q1. Squarespace’s steady feature rollouts, Canva’s move beyond design and Framer’s growing visibility all helped turn early-year experimentation into real adoption.

WordPress
WordPress grew modestly from 30.46M to 31.18M websites (+2.36%). Despite its earlier dip in Q1, its sheer dominance keeps it stable, with growth reflecting long-term resilience rather than sudden momentum.
Wix
Wix added nearly 200K sites in Q3 (+2.41%), climbing back after the Q1 decline. It continues to hold a strong second place, but its pace is slower than the fast-rising challengers.
Squarespace
Squarespace saw one of the biggest rebounds, jumping from 4.12M to 6.69M sites (+62.38%). New features and a focus on usability may have attracted businesses looking for quick, polished solutions.
Webflow
Webflow gained about 100K sites in Q3 (+20.28%). While smaller in absolute scale, this recovery shows it remains a go-to for visual developers despite the tougher competition.
Canva
Canva nearly doubled its numbers, from 119K to 202K sites (+69.75%). Its rapid adoption suggests more users are testing Canva as a website builder extension of its design ecosystem.
Framer
Framer grew from 98K to 172K sites (+75.51%), marking its strongest quarter yet. The rebound shows increasing traction, with future growth potentially accelerated by its recently announced Series D funding.
With Figma entering the site builder market, its impact will likely become visible in the next quarters. The open question is whether it will pull users away from the giants like WordPress and Wix, or from newer players such as Framer and Webflow who currently ride the wave of fast adoption.
